DAILY DISH: Heisler’s List - Junior Hockey News

Heisler’s List is a weekly feature that follows the progress of players that have elected to utilize my services as a player consultant. We continually monitor each prospect’s play and conditioning year-round with an emphasis on helping to achieve individual goals on and off the ice.

Bradley Budman, Defensemen (Foothill Ranch CA, South Shore Kings NCDC) - After splitting the weekend with the Jr Bruins, we are back with a set of games against Syracuse in Foxboro.  We need to come out with a quicker start to jump on the Stars early. (20GP, 2A)

Levi Cudmore, Forward #17 (Park River ND, Winnipeg Blues MJHL) - Last week we played a new and improved Wayway team and we would fall on the wrong end of the shootout. The very next day we played Dauphin and after a slow start we came back with a lot of energy and I would get credited with four assists. Last night we played number one ranked Winkler and snuck out a 1-0 victory. Next up we travel back to Wayway on Friday and have our showcase Tuesday and Wednesday, in Winnipeg! 3GP 0G, 4A, 4PT / Total 30GP 15G, 18A, 33PT

Michael Fary, Forward (Foothill Ranch CA, Great Falls Americans NA3HL) – Another week in the books and I feel as if I am continually improving. This weekend we had a two game set with Missoula, and had 5 points in 2 games, and more importantly the team got 2 wins. We played two strong games and our four line system really started to wear them down, opening up ice for my teammates and to make plays. This weekend I played in all situations from PK, PP, to 5 on 5 face offs in all zones. The week of practice prepared me very well for the weekend, because I worked on all these situations throughout the week extensively. I am continuing to work on my on ice skills such as speed, puck handling ability, and the ability to read plays and anticipate. Also I am working in the gym every day to get stronger and faster. This weekend we have one game against Helena on the road on Friday night, December 8th.  I will be wearing jersey # 9. (Week 2GP, 1G, 4A, 5PT/ TOTAL 21GP, 10G, 15A, 25PT)

Oliver Lester, Defenseman (Calgary ALB, Coquitlam Express BCHL ) - I am currently out for a week with an injury, so I have been watching video and keeping sharp mentally as well as doing what I can off the ice like stickhandle and shooting to stay in game shape, improve and come back better. I am really happy with my progress and should be back next week.  (Season stats: 7 GP: 3G 5A, 8 PTS)

Lukas Slansky, Forward (Frydek-Mistek CZECH, Oklahoma City Blazers WSHL) – It's been hard two weeks for us, but we made 6 wins. We played against Wichita and Springfield. We did not have a problem with Wichita, but with Sprigfield we had some problems, but we were able to won all three games. It was good games with high intensity. Especially, I was focused on good and strong cover in the D-zone (TOTAL: 14Gp, 5G, 19A, 24PT)

Cole Woodliffe, Forward (Vernon BC, Weyburn Red Wings SJHL) - Our team was on a road trip up north last week. They went 1-3 which was not fun to watch. I got left behind to continue my treatment. This is now the 3rd week I’ve been injured but have turned the corner. I’ve just stepped back onto the ice at 50% and have no problems so I’m looking forward to continuing to get better and back to playing. STATS Overall-(20GP 5G 14A 19PTS 24PIM 1/1 SOA)

Lindros Beard, Forward (Copperton UT, Casper Coyotes WSHL) – After two hard working weeks we have started to turn the season around we are going into the showcase on a six game win streak and we have two weeks of practice to prepare. I was able to put up six points this last weekend and feel good going into the showcase. (18 gp 8g 6a 14pt)

Edvin Hasakovic, Forward (Burnaby BC, North Vancouver Wolfpack, PJHL) - We had a couple of good games and a couple of bad games. I have just been working on myself this week and working on the little things to improve myself. We have a game this Saturday December 9 against Ridge Meadow Flames. ( Week 2GP, 1G, 2A, 3PT / TOTAL 27 GP, 5G, 6A, 11PT )

Matthew Moran, Forward (Sartell MN, Granite City Lumberjacks NA3HL) – Been practicing in Granite all week and feel much faster.  Humboldt had a much quicker pace to practice. Been staying late to work on coming off the wall from a dead stop and firing a quick shot.  (2GP, 4G, 0A, 4PT/ total 19GP, 6G, 5A, 11PT)

Cameron Knowlton, Forward (Kenai AK, Wenatchee Wolves 18AAA) – This weekend we just got done at a showcase and we went 4-0. This week in practice we’ll just work on skills and systems. I’m trying to work on getting faster with my passing and making quicker plays. (15 GP 4G 1A 5PT)

Rajin Ludu, Defense (Issaquah WA, Fountain Valley School of Colorado, Western Prep Hockey League) – We were in Blaine, Minnesota last weekend and played 5 games, ultimately losing in the championship game by a score of 4-2. Overall we went 3-2, with the main highlights being a come from behind overtime victory over the Ontario Reign in what was functionally an elimination game and a 2-0 victory over IHA in the semifinals after losing to them in round robin. For me, it was more of a lockdown defensive weekend, as 4 of the 5 games we played were decided by 2 goals or less, though I did tally an assist on the insurance goal in the 2-0 victory. As a team, the focus has been generating more shots on net, as recently we have been passing up very good shooting opportunities in favor of low percentage passes. Academically, I am actively studying for my final exams which will begin the weekend after this one. We have just one game left in the calendar year, Saturday night we play our rival the Colorado Springs Tigers 18U team. I am jersey number 4. (Last Week 5GP, 0G, 1A, 1PT +2, 5SOG/TOTAL 31GP, 1G, 9A, 10PT, +7, 43SOG)

Koby Lukehart, Goalie (Monument CO, Casper Coyotes WSHL) –  This week practice went pretty well, in our goalie sessions we focused on RVH jams, then tipped shots. We don’t play any games till the Vegas showcase.

Alex Engan, Forward (Wasilla AK, Wasilla High School and Alaska Oilers 18AAA) – This week our practices have consisted of break outs, entering the offensive zone, and power plays. Individually, I am working on getting off quick shots without stick handling. We have a tournament this week, Thursday we play Monroe High School and the rest of the games are TBA . Jersey #13. This week  3GP, 4G, 0A, 4PT / TOTAL 21GP, 16G, 13A, 29PTS)

Jesse Keicher, Forward (Buffalo NY, Buffalo Stars 18U) – This week in hockey is going good. I have 2 assists in our loss to Lockport last night. It was by far our best game as a team of the year. Everything I have been focused on in practice is starting to pay off in the games and in the crucial moments. My grades in school are staying consistent. I have a game tonight at 8:30 against Cheektowaga. (Week 1 GP, 0G, 2A, 2 PTS / TOTAL 7GP, 5G, 8A, 13PTS)

Thomson Phinney, Goalie (Fall River NS, Yarmouth Mariners MHL) – My current team is the Yarmouth Jr A Mariners in the MHL. This week I didn’t get to play. This week in practice I’ve really been focusing on my net skating to increase my footwork and speed to get to saves quicker making them easier as well as some edge work again, to help my speed in the net.  Academically I wrote my SAT’s last Saturday. Currently awaiting results. Our next game is this Friday. I wear number 30. (Week, 0GP 0.00GAA .000SV%, 0-0 record  / Total, record 3-2, 5GP 2.12GAA .912SV%)

Jeremy Swartz, Defenseman (Rochester NY, Buffalo Jr. Sabres u18) – Last week my team had 2 divisional games. We had one Saturday and one Sunday. We went 2-0 to complete our divisional sweep on this team. I was effective defensively and offensively in each game I played. I got the assists on our only regulation goal in our first victory and jumped in the rush several times. I have continued to work on puck handling, more with a focus on puck retrieval and making the first pass out of the zone. I am also working on using the net to allude the first forechecker. This weekend we have off but we go to Arizona the following week. STATS- Weekly(2GP 0G 1A 0PTS 0PIM, +3) Overall(33GP 1G 4A 5PTS 8PIM +16)

Chandler Trennepohl, Defenseman (Cincinnati OH, Miami Redhawks 18AA) – Last weekend I was injured from a hit from behind in my game on Saturday. Due to this injury I did not play this weekend but i did show up and sat on the bench with my team all 3 games. (Week 9 0GP, 0G, 0A, 0PT / TOTAL 11GP, 1G, 9A, 10PT)

Brindamour Beard, Forward (Copperton UT, Casper Coyotes WSHL) - This week we got another 3 game sweep. I had a very good weekend contributing on offense and defending in my own zone. Academically I have been continuing online high school keeping good grades and staying caught up on assignments. Our team’s next games are at the WSHL showcase in Las Vegas December 19-21. (Week: 2GP, 1G, 4A / Total: 22GP, 4G, 14A, 18PT)

School had been getting better and I’m starting to get adjusted to it being online. We have 2 games this weekend. One at Toledo and then the next day at Metro. My number is 33. (Week GP0) (Total GP5 1-4-0, 4.95GAA, .887SV%)

Gadel Khismatullin, Forward (Moscow, White Bears - Moscow city open tournaments U17 and U18) -  Last week my teammates and I worked mostly on combination when we attack. During last games, there were so many moments where we could score a goal. However, we just couldn't finish amazing combinations with an accurate shot.   In U17 we played against the 10th team in the tournament. As a result, easy victory (9-1) and 3 points for our team. We tried combinations that we worked on during training. Some of them were performed nice, others didn't go pretty well.  Overall, we enjoyed the game. I passed my English class midterm exam which was very tough. The upcoming week our team plays with: Vympel (U17), Olympian (U18). My jersey number is 87. ( STATS U17: Week 1GP, 0G, 0A, 0PT / TOTAL 13GP, 4G, 12A, 16PT / U18: Week 1GP, 0G, 1A, 1PT / TOTAL 12GP, 1G, 5A, 6PT)

Gunner Moore, Defenseman (Las Vegas NV, Atlanta Capitals NA3HL) – last week we traveled to Texas it was a long trip but the drive didn’t seem to bad because we left late at night and slept most of the time. Every time we go to Texas we play 3 games. We ended up winning all 3 but I felt like I didn’t do the best I could’ve. My skating wasn’t the best it should’ve been and I didn’t put up as many points as I wanted but I was on the ice for a lot of goals for and none against so that’s a plus of the weekend. This week in practice I want to work on not throwing the puck away as much and also my skating. (Stats 22 GP 3 G 9 A 12 Points)

Joshua Gawron, Goalie (#30, Buffalo NY, Wheatfield Blades Pee Wee Minor AAA ) -  Posted a shut Out vs.the Depew Saints AAA on 12/3 – 4-0 with 22 saves, Posted a 3-1 lead in the first half of our games vs Belle Tire with 18 saves.  3-1 Loss to #5 Ranked Syracuse Stars on 11/17 with 47 saves; 4-1 Loss to Niagara North with 41 saves.  .921 Save % for the season. I am not schedule to start again until 12/9 vs Rochester Monarchs and then off to Ottawa for the Bell Cup.  My team is 4-0 in WNYAHL league play. I finished with a 93.9 GPA in the 1st quarter marking period; achieving honors.  I was in the top 50 students out of my class of 500 at Clarence Middle School- 6th grade.  My goal is to make high honors (95% or above) for the year.
